Sail Date: Dec 2016

After 15 cruises on 7 different lines I have, unfortunately, discovered a line I will never cruise with again. It's hard to know where to begin. Embarkation went relatively smoothly and we were on board by 1PM. Went to the buffet on deck 16 and saw what appeared to be a wonderful piece of beef that I couldn't wait to try. I was amazed that a piece of meat that had to be at least 20 pounds had been cooked well done all the way to the bone. No medium rare and certainly no rare. On top of that it had no flavor and it was extremely dry. While I hoped this was a fluke and the food would improve, it turned out to be a preview of the next 10 days. While the "fresh fish" was delicious and moist on the first day, it was dry and smelled and tasted fishy the rest of the cruise. It seems that virtually all of the food is prepared with little seasoning and cooked until unrecognizable. The Main Dining Room was no exception. While I could get some beef dinners cooked to order most of the selections were bland, over cooked and rarely served hot enough. Desserts were uninspired and many times couldn't be cut with a fork. To add insult to injury we didn't even get the traditional steak and lobster dinner on the last night, we were offered Roast Tom Turkey or Meatloaf in the Main Dining Room. I can have those meals at home and they are definitely not what I am looking for in a fine dining experience on a cruise ship.

While the ship is beautifully appointed and well maintained it has a definite lack of entertainment. I really do like string quartet music, but not necessarily twice a day for 10 days. The reggae and Caribbean music was a welcome relief to the Lawrence Welk/Ed Sullivan type of shows and music that abounded on this ship. The comedian that was on the ship the longest was using schtick and jokes from the 50's that wasn't that funny back then. There was a comedian that was hilarious but he left the ship on day 4 for the Holidays. This ship has an event billed as Mardi Gras and we were looking forward to this. Instead we received another disappointment, Who holds Mardi Gras at four in the afternoon???

The on board amenities were literally non-existent, A very plain jane 8 hole putting green that appeared to be an after thought, and a laser shooting range that was out of service the entire cruise appeared to be the only activities, other than exercise classes, that the ship had to offer.
