Embarkation:I live in Florida, so was able to drive to Ft. Lauderdale.  The parking is crazy expensive at the port, so we arranged to be dropped off and picked up by family. The ship was due to leave at 5pm. We arrived at 1:30pm. We dropped our bags with the baggage people and went into the terminal. I had checked in online and had our Seapass. This made the process very easy. We waited in line about ten minutes. Check in took about 5 minutes, we got our keycard/Seapass and went on to the ship. Had I known we would be able to get right into our stateroom, I would have taken my bag on board with me. As it was, we didn't get our bags until 6pm. It was okay, just annoying because there was no reason to "check" our bags other than to give someone a tip to handle them for us. Totally unnecessary, but not a big deal. We had lunch in the windjammer and then went to explore the ship. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy check-in was, but I think we were early and got lucky with our stateroom being ready.Stateroom:I originally purchased an inside cabin guarantee. I had been told that this could backfire horribly or be the best thing to do. For me, it worked out great. I paid the least amount of money possible for the cruise and we were upgraded to a large interior cabin, two levels up from what I was expecting. The cabin was terrific. My Dad is 6'2" and 275 pounds, a big guy.  He had no problems in the passageways, room, or bathroom. The room was clean and neat. The bathroom was small, but not tiny. There was enough room to take a shower and then get dressed in there afterwards. We had ample room for storage with room left over for our suitcases and stuff we bought. I was very pleased with the room. The nice thing about inside cabins is that when you want to sleep, they are pitch black. I did bring a nighlite so we could see to get to the bathroom in the middle of the night. The location of the room was excellent. It was literally in the middle of the ship off of the main passageway. It was quiet and peaceful. Our room steward was Rex. He was just the best. Our ice bucket was always full. He would come in after breakfast and make up the room and tidy things up for us. Then he came again while we were at dinner. The towels animals were a real treat. It's nice to see that they rotate animals from year to year. I can't say enough about how great the service was in our stateroom. Rex was awesome.Dining:The food on the ship was hit or miss. Breakfast was always the worst meal. Not kidding, the coffee was the worst I've had in my life. I ended up drinking hot tea instead. I tried both the dining room and the windjammer for breakfast, but just gave up. I ended up going to the ben and jerry's/seattle's best coffee place for breakfast. My Dad would eat in the windjammer and then I'd go get my coffee and pastry from the other place. Well worth the surcharge for me. Some days the lunch in the windjammer was great, the next day it was completely average. Same thing with the dining room; one night would be excellent, the next was just ok. The nice thing is, if you don't like what you order they will let you order something else. There was a pizza/hot dog/hamburger place up on the solarium deck that was open all day and most of the night. It was great, consistently fresh and hot. I had lunch there most days when we were on the ship. The only thing I will say about staying onboard while the ship is in port is that while it may be quiet, there is NOTHING open. Get off the boat and go into town, even if you've already been there. We ate at Chop's the second to last night on the boat. OMG, what an awesome experience. Totally worth the $25 surcharge. I wish we had eaten there earlier, I probably would have eaten there 3 of the 5 nights. The service was excellent and the food was incredible. It was also the only place we had great coffee without going to Seattle's best. Overall, the food on the ship was good, just not consistently so.Disembarkation:This was easy and smooth. We chose the early disembark option. It allows you to take your own bags off the ship between 7:30 and 8:30am. We were off the boat by 8am and out of the port by 8:30am. However, we were in the first group off the boat. I highly recommend trying to do this. By the time we were off, the lines to get through customs had grown considerably. I would imagine there were people standing there for a while in line. We just got lucky. My one complaint:Muster was just absolutely, horribly, awful. There HAS to be a better way to do this, RCL. They made everyone line up at 4pm with their lifejackets on for a 4:30 muster drill - outside. We stood in the hot FL sun with a huge lifejacket on for 45 minutes. It was about 95 degrees. Not only did they not let you sit down, they started late. THEN, they go on with telling you about activities on the ship and their programs to "save the seas". I was furious. Surely, there has to be a better time to discuss these things than to make people stand out in the heat and listen to it. People tried to leave to get back into the a/c and they would stop and restart it.  It was just rediculous. It is the only cruise I've been on where they make you stand outside and do that. I understand the need for muster, but it needs to be quick and simple. What do they do with elderly people who physically cannot stand outside for that garbage? I got over it, but it was not a nice way to start a vacation. I'm a glutton for punishment, so it won't deter me from going on another RCL cruise. At least I'll know what I'm in for now!We had a terrific time on the cruise and will definitely be making a habit of it. I actually leave again on Sat. for another RCL cruise on Adventure of the Seas. There really were few things to complain about, all things considered.  RCL puts a lot of effort in to trying to please everyone. The staff was friendly and welcoming. Also we met a lot of people on the boat. Everyone was friendly and relaxed, ideal.

Cabin Review

Quiet location, great room with lots of storage, off the main passageway.
