Biggest Ship Ever, but Bigger is not always Better
After Cruising on the Voyager of the Seas in 2003, we had high expectations Royal Caribbean. Although the overall Cruise Experience was great, there were many of areas which RC fell short for prices paid.
-Flow rider was great. Long Lines but cool experience
(Go early when there are not so many people)
-Great Steak and overall food/service at Chops Grill
(Best 16Oz T-Bone and Mud Pie I have had)
-Fantastic Ship design and decor
(Art, Promenade, Sun Decks, and Sky Bar/Olive Twist impressive)
-Spa Treatment and Staff was great (expensive of course) -Quality of regular food items has reduced if there is an equivalent payable item. Overall Experience was good but Royal Caribbean needs to step up their quality and overall dinning service, since their prices have increased and quality has gone down. (May not do RC next time) Less
-Nice Rock Climbing Wall and Mini Golf
-Great Lunch in Dinning Room
-Nice Balcony Size
-Dinning Experience Fell Short Compared to previous RC Cruises
The food quality and portions have both gone down since 2003 for both dinning room as well as cafes like the More windjammer. Also, the dinning staff for this size vessel was not adequate. No more drink/bar service in the dinning room lead to long waits and poor overall service. Each waiter and assistant waiter were assigned far too many tables.
(Took about 3 hours to eat dinner every night)
-Packages Not Delivered as Promised
Romance Package order was not delivered as promised and we had to chase staff to either deliver what was paid for or refund the money. (Ended up refunding the money after several complaints and failed attempts to deliver package, sort of ruined the moment)
-Fountain Soda was mis-proportioned for most of the cruise.
(Last 4 days I drank watered down Coke after paying 50$ for a soda card which they check every singe time, regardless of how many items you are carrying)
-Not Enough Ice Cream
One Ice cream machine for 4200 people seemed a little ridiculous to me. Also, two days in a row the ice cream was out 3 hours prior to it closing and no effort was made to continue service as promised.
-Room Attendant Services Poor
Did not see Attendant until the second day. No service provided first day at all.
Ask him to check on our package as it was supposed to be a bon-voyage and never did.
Room cleanliness was poor. Sheets and blankets smelled/stained and floors beneath bed and couch where very dirty.
-Very poor meat quality for all beef on the ship other than chops steak house
(Hamburgers not enjoyable and Steak were down to cafeteria quality, very poor)
(Hamburgers/Fries - Johnny Rockets, Steak/Waiter Service - Chops Steak House, Ice Cream - Ben and Jerry's, Coffee - Seattle's Best) All of these items in the general food areas have reduced in quality now that it is possible for some people to pay more for these items.
Just not all to excited to pay extra for food that should be included in the price.
