This cruise was selected by Jazzfest at Sea. I'll start with the good stuff:
• Our room with the balcony was very nice, clean and well taken care of by the steward.
• Overall staff is very friendly and helpful, with a good attitude.
Unfortunately we arrived in Willemstad Curacao on a Sunday. Many businesses are closed and the town is very quiet. We had wanted to see the historic synagogue (first in the Western hemisphere) but it was not accessible except to organized tours; weekdays you can purchase an entry. However, we did get into the Maritime Museum which was quite interesting, had lunch at the port-side Iguana Cafe (no, they don't serve iguana but we were told by the Museum staff that this is a local delicacy) and rode the rotating bridge when it opened for a large ship.
We took this opportunity to use the facilities on the ship when they were less crowded - a good choice. Wife went ashore briefly and enjoyed some shopping. Beach next to the pier looked nice.
We walked around town and shopped. Also went to the Pirate Museum, which was interesting. There is an outdoor "straw" market where one can buy local crafts (as well as tchotchkes!) we bought local spices, rum cake and sauces as gifts for people at home at a grocery (Bayside Food store on Frederick Street); much cheaper there than in the tourist stores.
