Good service, some good entertainment, but disappointing taste of on-board food.

I took this cruise because I had not been to South America in over 6 years, and wanted to experience the sights and sounds of the region again. Specifically took this cruise because it fit my schedule well and the price was very good.

I like NCL overall and have sailed with them a number of times. I generally tell my friends that I like NCL's entertainment quality but do not like the quality (taste) of the dining room food.

Taking entertainment first, I found on this cruise that the entertainment in the show lounge was not as good as other cruises. This applies to the special on-board entertainers. Exception to that was the 16 member "production cast" whom I found to be excellent. Also, the special entertainment (tango performance) was also excellent.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin MB

Cabin was very roomy and comfortable. Superb bathroom and closet area. The TV needs to be updated. The Balcony was nice but small. Especially considering that it was associated with a "mini-suite".

Port Reviews

Montevideo

Like Buenos Aires, I have been here before and did not need to take an excursion. However, I did tour the city on my own. It is a fantastic city to visit.

Santos (Sao Paulo)

This is another great city to see and experience. Which I did. On my own.

Rio de Janeiro

I took the all day city tour as I had a late night departing flight. Very good tour guide and an enjoyable way to see the city and spend the time.
