Sail Date: Nov 2016
Cabin: Balcony

We booked this cruise one week before the sail date. Talk about last minute! We drove down to Ft. Lauderdale from Raleigh, NC. We stayed at a hotel in Hollywood, FL that will let you park your car for the duration of the cruise. There is a shuttle from the hotel but it's not cheap ($50 round trip for 2). I think we would have saved money using Uber - maybe next time. We got to the port early and just waited in line. We met some nice people and enjoyed talking to them while we waited.

Good things in general: every single staff person we dealt with on the ship was wonderful - helpful, friendly, and eager to please! We had great table-mates. We asked for a table for 6 this time instead of 8. Definitely a better choice.

The entertainment was fantastic - very talented performers. The comedians and the magicians were great! The only one we didn't care for was the ventriloquist. He was technically very good but it was a very "needy" performance. Didn't care for his performance at all.

Balcony

Cabin BB

We had booked a guaranteed balcony (BC) and were upgraded one step to a better balcony. We were on Aloha Deck 12. I had read that this was not an ideal location since it's right under the Lido deck, but we had no complaints. When looking out from the balcony you are right under the overhang of the Lido deck so your view is slightly impaired, but it's not a big deal. Good points: you're only one floor below the Horizon Court so a short trip on the stairs to breakfast each morning; ditto for the pools (the Lotus pool is the best - our favorite location on the ship); the room was a decent size and shape and the bathroom was the usual - small.

Bad points: the hairdryer provided in the room is awful! It will fry your hair. I didn't bring my own but will next time - just don't use your own in the bathroom, only at the desk by the balcony - there is a big mirror. Be sure to bring your shoe bag to hang on the bathroom door and, if you need it, a spot magnifying mirror to attach to the big mirror in the bathroom.
