Sailed the Western Med as a 5th anniversary celebration on Voyager departing 6/7/09 from Barcelona.Arrived in Barcelona at midday on 6/6/09.  Took the train from BCN to Passeig de Gracia (E5) stop and walked with luggage about 3-4 blocks to Hotel Continental Palacete.  Nice, cozy, very pink hotel located conveniently in the city center - offered a special rater of E110 for our one night stay.  Dropped our bags and started exploring the city.  Bought HOHO bus tickets (E21 all day) and stopped at La Sagrada Familia.  The church and surrouding area is not to be missed for photo ops - though I heard the interior tour is not worthwhile.  Got back on HOHO and jumped off at Park Guell - also designed by Gaudi and probably the most beautiful park I've ever visited.  Wonderful views of the city, fantistic architecture, and brilliant landscaping!  Don't miss Park Guell if you appreciate the outdoors.  By evening we hit Las Ramblas in the city center and had a blast.  Barcelona is high energy without being frenetic.  We ate tapas and drank sangria at several stops along Las Ramblas.  I couldn't stop thinking about how perfectfully pleasant the evening was!Embarkation was a breeze after a E17 cab ride from Hotel Continental Palacete.  Ship was clean and we were able to enter our room by 2pm.  Apparently one of the service elevators was out of service so our luggage didn't show up until about 5pm.  We had a balcony cabin (8390) that was on the starboard-aft corner of Voyager.  The balcony was oversized for our category and served us very nicely during our cruise.  We seemed to luck out in that our balcony always seemed to have sun in the evenings as we left port and we had the pleasure of watching our ports of call vanish into our wake.Sea day was uneventful as we lounged around the pool, sipped cocktails and soaked up the Med sun all day.  Speaking of cocktails - don't bother trying to catch a buzz off the "island drinks" they serve.  A person could slam those all day and not feel the slightest bit light headed.  I ended up going with Budweiser for the last few days of the trip.
