We had a wonderful cruise leaving from Vancouver and ending in Seward.  We arrived a day early and booked a hotel close to the airport.  We flew in from Illinois and met my husband's brother and sister in law who flew in from Mississippi.  We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and they were celebrating their 35th anniversary.  My husband and I have cruised about 15 times and have been on RCCL, Holland, Norweigan, Carnival and now Celebrity.  We have enjoyed all of our cruises, but think that Celebrity is one of our favorites.  We had near perfect weather and a near perfect cruise.  This was the first cruise for our relatives, but do not think it will be their last.We booked a family suite, with a very large veranda.  We had plenty of space for the four of us.  One side of the cabin had a king size bed and the other side had two couches, one of which made into a full size bed.  Our only complaint was that the couch bed was not very comfortable.  Each couple had the good bed for half the week.  Each side of the room had its own TV and storage. The room was divided by a large sliding privacy door which could be left open during the day.  We had plenty of storage space for all of our things.  Our veranda was the best feature of our suite.  It was almost as large as our room and was on the back of the ship.  It had 2 tables, 2 chaise lounge chairs and 4 other chairs.  I believe the veranda had 241 sq. ft. of space and our room had 271 sq. ft.  Our room steward was great. We rode a shuttle for $15 per person from the hotel to the Ballantine Pier.  It is about a 40 min. ride from the airport.  We left the hotel around 10 a.m. and were able to board almost as soon as we arrived at the pier.  Of course, we immediately went to find food and we were not disappointed. We had first seating and dinner was very good every night.  We never ate in the dining room for lunch, but enjoyed the buffets, grill and pizza stations.  For breakfast we alternated between the buffet and the dining room.  All food was good and plentiful.  The variety was great.  At night, we had a large table of 10, beside a window.  We had great fun watching the sea life and the gorgeous views, along with the company of our table mates. Our waiters were great and very accomodating. Alaska was absolutely gorgeous.  It was our first cruise to Alaska but it will definitely not be our last.  The views are so much better than just seeing water every day, like on a Carribean cruise.  We had beautiful weather.  It was sunny and in the 70s most days.  We enjoyed the three shows that the Celebrity singers and dancers performed.  We also enjoyed the comedian.  The illusionist was good, but not our cup of tea.  We only had two real days at sea, as we were in port for 4 days.  We enjoyed all of the ports.  We were able to see bears, eagles and moose.  We did not take the ship's tours, but contracted with the locals once we were in port. You will save a lot of money that way.One of the highlights of our trip was the train ride from Seward to Anchorage.  We saw lots of wildlife and gorgeous landscapes.  We rented a car in Anchorage and spent a day and a half touring the city.  We went to the Ulu factory and the largest chocolate fountain.  We walked around downtown and saw some of the puppies that are being groomed to run the Iditaroid.  We met a young man who came in sixth in the race.It was a fabulous trip and we all enjoyed ourselves and the beautiful ship.
