Sail Date: Nov 2016
Cabin: Grand Suite with Balcony

My wife and I whom are both in our early sixties are Diamond Plus members and previously sailed to the Western Caribbean on the Anthem a year ago . So we looked forward to to this Nov 27th cruise which took us to Puerto Rico, St. Maarten, Antigua, Barbados, Martinique and St. Kitts. Martinique was a substitute port in place of St. Lucia. Evidently, the Pier area wasn't finished for a ship the size of the Anthem.

We arrived around 10:45 AM and boarded quickly after parking at the port paying $20 per day totaling $240. In the future, we will probably start taking a car service given we live less than 30 minutes from the port. We completed the check-in process online and this allowed us to save time boarding the ship. Once on board, we had lunch in Windjammer and walked around the ship.

We always stay in a suite, usually a Grand Suite. This gives us the perks of having the Concierge Lounge, reserved seating for shows, free internet and access to Coastal Kitchen where the food is cooked to order. With the exception of one night, we ate all of our dinners in Coastal Kitchen and will probably do this on future cruises. Our Suite was spotless and our attendant Elliot took great care of us. We are early risers, so our room was usually cleaned before 10 AM.

Cabin Review

Grand Suite with Balcony

Cabin GS

Our cabin was well designed and laid out. The bed was very comfy. There was a nice area in the room for my wife to put on her makeup. The coffee table was a little large and we moved it against the wall. The tub strangely has the drain in the middle of the tub. there was plenty of storage in the bathroom. The bathroom has two doors and a night light built-in. The suite has two large flat screen TVs and plenty of storage. The balcony had very comfortable chairs. The room temperature can be adjusted in two separate areas by two thermostats. The cabin is close to the mid-ship elevators on the same deck as the Concierge Lounge.

Port Reviews

San Juan

We like San Juan but was a little disappointed that the casino next to the pier is gone. We enjoyed going there because it was smoke free unlike the casino on the Anthem.

St. Maarten

St. Maarten is a shopper's paradise right by the pier. You don't even have to take the ferry to Phillipburg.

Barbados

Not awful but not great.

Martinique

Very beautiful island. Very upscale but not a lot of shopping because we arrived on Sunday. The pier area is set up just to dock the ship.

St. Kitts (Port Zante)

Beautiful island with many pier shops to enjoy.

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

Just a place to board the ship.
