Cabin: The Haven Spa Suite with Balcony

My husband and I do a cruise every year for our Anniversary. Our 2016 cruise began on the 16th of September aboard the Norwegian Getaway. Because of the promotions, we opted to book a Haven Spa Suite.

Embarkation was a total breeze. We walked into the private check in area for Haven guests where we were greeted with smiles, amazing customer service, and a small spread of drinks and goodies. Once we were all set and ready, we were escorted down the hall and onto the gangway – no wait! I will admit that the little sign that they hold for you is somewhat embarrassing but hey, I did pay for it!

Once we got up to the Haven, we were asked to settle in and grab a drink while we waited for the concierge to give a quick briefing on the perks that we would receive as Haven guests. The perks, you ask. Haven guests have a private lounge, restaurant, pool and sundeck area – all kept incredibly clean and the service is excellent. Also included is priority boarding and debarkation (including at port), as well as priority reservations for shows/restaurants.

Cabin Review

The Haven Spa Suite with Balcony

We loved our cabin!

The bathroom was clean and the spa shower was such an added bonus. It was almost hard to drag yourself out to get ready!

The closet and storage space was more than adequate and very impressive for a ship stateroom.

I read a lot of reviews about the hot tub not being utilized because it took too long to fill up and the water never got warm. It did take 30 minutes or so to fill it up, but there was no problem with the heat and I really didn't find it to be a huge inconvenience to wait around for a few minutes. We only used it before bed. It was fun to rewind in a whirlpool tub while watching a movie and staring out at the ocean.

The bed. OMG. The bed. I wanted to take it home with me! We filled it with every pillow on the pillow menu and looked forwarded to laying in it every night.

The balcony was small, no doubt about that. There was room to sit and a small table but that was about it.

We also enjoyed the espresso machine quite a bit - that is, after Renson showed us how to use the thing!

Port Reviews

Costa Maya

This port appeared to be under construction. There were a ton of shops and it was very touristy, but it looked like every fun activity was "coming soon." We had booked a resort for the day but when we got there, we left immediately because it was a total dump!
