I live in the Midwest and most cruise experiences are departing from Florida. Since this was a girls trip for 50 yr old women, two of which reside in Los Angeles we decided to take something out of Los Angeles. Because I am fairly easy to please, I didnt hesitate about the ship and itinerary that we selected. Embarkation was a smooth process, we arrived at 11::30 and were onboard by 12:30. There is a comfortable waiting area so you don't have crowds standing around. Usually, when we you arrive on ship there is something festive going on and that was absent. This was a sold out cruise. We departed 1.5 hrs past our departing time so that kind of ruined the typical sail off party atmosphere. The demographic of my fellow cruisers leaned more towards couples in their 40's or up...not a lot of children on this particular sailing. Lots of beautiful and pleasant retirees and folks wanting to have nice time. No complainers on board. The cruise director was extremely boring, but he had a lively staff of a few gentleman that roused the party in the crowd. Also, the ships officers were not obviously present.

The only comment that I have for your consideration is to consider the experience you are looking for. If you are looking for the busy, something exciting happening at all times of day and night this may be the wrong cruise for you, unless you are bringing your party with you.

This was a very traditional cruise experience, with relaxing moments on deck (never had to compete for our deck chairs), great consistent dining, a few shows, a great comedian, a good house band and superb service from all crew members. The ship is very well maintained, and very easy to navigate. The only comment I would have about the buffet, is that they didn't change the menu often so it was a bore after a few days. Also you should be willing to share a table in the buffet if you are a small group as the tables were always packed. The Pizza and hamburgers were excellent, the international cafe was great. I purchased the drink package and never experienced wait times or issues that I have experienced with other lines. The drink package was actually cheaper on board than it was prepaying prior to the cruise. We chose anytime dining and were always willing to share a table and never had to wait in line. You may experience a wait if you were looking for your own separate table. All shared table experiences were great because our fellow cruisers were very nice.

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin M1

We were 3 in a cabin and chose the mini suite. This offered a separate bedding area and tv that was spaced far enough from the other two beds. The sofa bed had an extremely comfortable mattress on it. The bathroom was spacious with a a shower/bathtub combo. There was more than enough storage space for the three of us. Our cabin steward Lombardo was on top of our comings and goings and ensured that the room was taken care of while we were out and about. The balcony was spacious enough for us to have our coffee every morning before starting our day.

Port Reviews

Cabo San Lucas

Because this was a tender and the time in port was only 5 hrs I felt we needed to be careful about not wandering too far off the beaten path. We decided to take a water taxi around the arch for about a 45 minute ride for about 10.00 per person. The water is beautiful and when I return we will spend some time snorkeling. After the water taxi we proceeded to an older portion of town and shopped, and had lunch. I would definitely plan this out differently as Cabo appeared to be a fun town..unfortunately time was limited.
