I am normally a Carnival fan, but the Freedom left me underwhelmed.

The boat was well maintained and clean and the crew was always busy and working hard. The food was great in the Steakhouse but the buffet and dining room were underwhelming and for the first time ever we ordered room service multiple times. Room Service was quick, but the food was not consistent...we ordered BLT's and they were great one night, the next time they had 1 piece of bacon (seriously, I wish I had taken a picture). Best places to eat are Guys, Steakhouse and the Deli window. If I had known how bad the food was going to be, we would have made multiple reservations in the Steakhouse. By the way....we are not picky people. I have never complained about Carnival food before but there is a problem on this ship in the Galley. We were not the only ones who gave up on the dining room and buffet. I would chose early dining instead of anytime on this ship. Waits were long to get into the dining room on more than one night.

Our room steward had us fill out a form and choose a room cleaning time. Even when we put the sign out that we were "cruisin" he would not enter the room early. We had to find him to request clean towels or extra towels. We called the number on the card he gave us, but no one ever answered it, so I'm not sure of the purpose of that number on the card. He entered the room for "showerhead cleaning" and that was the only day we had fresh towels before the nightly turn down. He did a great job cleaning when he did his nightly turn down service, we are just use to our cabin stewards being more flexible with cleaning the room when we are "out" instead of a "set time". This may be a change that carnival is implementing to save money or maybe they were short staffed or it was his personal style. It just required an adjustment on our part.

Cabin Review

Balcony

Cabin 8B

Cabin was AFT and very quiet. Normal, basic carnival balcony room with a connecting door between 7414 and 7418. Movement wasn't anymore or worse than any other part of the ship. Must ask for Robes, they are not in the room when you check in.
