We chose this trip because the price was great and itinerary, we love to snorkel and ABC islands are the best, we booked last minute and were excited to get on Princess again after getting off a NCL cruise the same day we boarded Princess so it was fun to compare. We've been on all the cruise lines but never back to back different brands.

The contrast was amazing. Yes the NCL Epic was big and beautiful, built 2009 and Caribbean an older ship, built in 2004 and getting ready to go in to dry dock the day we got off. We fell in love with the Caribbean Princess. Not necessarily the ship but the crew.

The entertainment was top notch from comedy to the production shows, we loved them all. The show Bravo even flew in an opera singer and it was amazing. Elton John tribute was very well done too. Cruise director Micca was funny.

Cabin Review

Oceanview (obstructed view)

Cabin OW

I don't know what category our oceanview obstructed was but we were very happy with the size of the room, storage space and refrigerator, look for the ice bucket in refrigerator. Shower was small with the curtain clinging, no room really in there to keep personal items like razor, conditioner in the shower but soaps and shampoos smelled great. The bathroom had enough shelves for items. Lotion was provided without asking. Bed was very comfortable and our room steward was amazing. He was like a ninja getting our room clean when we would leave. Jose, who knew I loved the chocolates with the silver wrapper (you get different ones every night) the last night of cruise he made a huge flower on the bed out of the silver candy so I ended up with almost 20 of them. LOVE LOVE

Port Reviews

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We didn't arrive until 2:30 and walked right on the ship, there were plenty of staff but no passengers in line. We had heard from others that arrived at 9 a.m. that they had to wait for hours to board as they doors didn't even open until 11 and the priority passengers got on first.

Curacao

We rented a scooter from Joe right outside the port. 300 lb limit on the scooter so me and my husband combined were too fat. His normal price was $40/ all day until 6 which is a great price but since we only planned on paying for one so I negotiated and we got two for $60. He didn't ask for a credit card, only cash and we didn't even pay him until we returned. Nice guy. Not the greatest scooters but we did just fine. Went all over the island, sad part is there is a lot of garbage all over outside the towns and backroads. Even old refrigerators and furniture, very sad. We had fun discovering the island. Found an ostrich farm and went in, no cost to look around but to see the ostrich and tour there was a fee. They had chickens, peacocks, pigs, macaws and other animals to look at, a lookout tower where you could see the farm, playground for kids. Free wifi and a restaurant with african food.

When we were in Curacao a few years before we did a land tour but we prefered the scooter, We saw beaches but didn't stop even though we brought our snorkel gear, water was too rough to snorkel.. After we returned the scooter we went to the top of the fort and had dinner at the steak house. The menu looked expensive but the exchange rate was great, we only spent $20 with tip for a couple drinks and appetizers. The staff was amazing and our view, out of this world. Saw the floating bridge open and close all night and ships buzzing through. Great way to end the port day.

Aruba

We rented a scooter here, $50/ all day right when you walk off the port. AMAZING ride to see the natural bridge, no cost to get in. Went to Baby beach and snorkeled (we bring our own gear) free parking and access. Near Baby beach we went up the hill and found wild donkeys, amazing coastal views all over the island. We did a lot of dirt roads on the scooter and it was so much fun, amazing fields of cactus as tall as power lines.

Bonaire

We brought along snorkel gear and got off the ship and went to the taxi station and asked about a water taxi to Klein Bonaire, an island preserve for snorkeling. $20 pp round trip and you get on close to where you get off the ship, they had rental gear on the boat, $5 mask snorkel, $5 life vest and $5 flippers and $3 beer. We took the catamaran but they do have a faster boat too, same price. Took us 18 min to boat out and $3 beers. They come back to Klein every hour and they ring the bell when they come so you can choose to go back or stay another hour. The captain was a dive master so on the way back I showed pictures and they told me the names of the fish. Klein Bonaire was AMAZING. First thing I saw underwater was a sea turtle, he was only a foot across but it was awesome. Saw huge French angels, trigger fish and the coral was gorgeous. So many fish you couldn't count. HIGHLY recommend. Then afterwards we went to a coffee shop named Illy and they had amazing coffee and with each cup you got a free tiny ice cream cone. So cool. Prices like starbucks but served in ceramic cups and tasted much better.
