Sail Date: Dec 2016

We enjoyed our cruise on the NCL Epic starting on Dec 3, 2016. Our ports of call were Great Stirrup Cay, Ocho Rios, Grand Cayman and Cozumel.

We chose an early embarkation time (10AM) as we knew there were going to be a lot of people trying to get on the EPIC. We walked right thru security and got checked in. We sat in the waiting area for about 45 minutes and got onto the ship by 11:30 AM. I don't know if the NCL staff is getting used to the bigger ship or we did not have problems because we were fairly early (also had a cab driver that knew a back way in). We hung out at H2O Spice until our rooms were ready and we really enjoyed the area. Bar wasn't too busy and neither was the buffet.

We made reservations online for the shows and dinners, but found out that we also needed to make reservations for the comedy shows. It was easy to make these reservations on the touch screens near most of the elevators -- you can also make them from the TV in your room. I think the shows were pretty much full by the 2nd day. We had to make tender reservations at guest services. Made them for both tenders on the first day.

Cabin Review

Aft-Facing Balcony

Cabin B1

We had a nice Aft Balcony room, there was a lot of storage (we were able to completely unpack suitcases and store them and still had lots of room). The layout was a bit odd, but it didn't bother us. I think I would have preferred a room with the bed closer to the balcony. I liked that the shower and toilet were separated. The sink in the living area was not a problem. The glass walls might have been more bothersome if I wasn't traveling with my husband.

Port Reviews

Great Stirrup Cay

We tendered to Great Stirrup Cay and just spent time at the beach and got a few drinks. We enjoyed the water and had no problems finding empty chairs. Getting drinks/sodas on the island seemed to be more difficult than getting them on the boat.

Ocho Rios

We got off the boat early as we were meeting a friend in Ocho Rios. We never heard the ship announce that people could go ahead and disembark so we went down and were able to walk right off the ship without a line.
