I chose this cruise because more than any other location I wanted to go to Half Moon Cay. This was my 3rd cruise and all have been with Carnival. Jacksonville is an 8 hour drive from where I live. I liked the idea of it taking a full night and 1/2 day to reach the first destination port. We parked in a lot across the highway from the entrance to the terminal, much cheaper than at the terminal. We were running a little late and arrived at 3:00pm with a 4:00pm departure. We were shuttled over and thru the boarding process within 1/2 an hour. No waiting at all. We carried most of our luggage aboard ourselves.
The Ship:
Elation is an old ship, but I must say I found it beautiful. All the carpets were in great shape. Tables and chairs were as well. The only thing I thought looked aged were the shower tiles. The atrium was beautifully decorated with Christmas garland and made for warm and charming photo backgrounds.
Everything was in perfect working order. Shower pressure and temperature were flawless. Beds weren't as comfy as I'd remembered but maybe I'm just getting old. We had plenty of room for one over-packer, one average packer and 2 kids. I'll answer any questions anyone has.
