I chose this cruise because of the destination, the time of year and the cost.
The food in the dining room is excellent. This ship has too many activities for me to list. If you or your children like lots of activity, this is a good match for you. The ship is huge and provides a very comfortable ride. Please note, you must make reservations for the shows on board. The Windjammer Restaurant has mediocre food. The evening dining room food is excellent, as is the service. Entertainment is first class! Music and performers are absolutely outstanding - the best I've heard and seen on a cruise ship! Ports of call were interesting, but some of the popular shore excursions can fill up even before the ship sails.
I missed 1 shore excursion by not knowing about this. The Oasis of the Seas is huge! There were 5 cruise ships in the St. Maarten Harbor at the same time. Having so many people overwhelms the local shops and the excursions. It would be great if the cruise lines could stagger the arrival of their ships! Disembarkation was rough. I opted to take my own luggage off the ship in the first wave of disembarkation. We were to meet on deck 5. This put the line in front of the elevators, creating a bottleneck for people trying to get off the elevators! What a traffic jam! Overall, the cruise was pleasant. However, I would travel on a smaller ship next time.
Cabin was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Service was good.
Talked with several ex-patriots from the USA. Their reasons for relocating to St. Thomas were really interesting. Had a most delicious shaved ice cone with creme topping! Hmmmm good! This was my favorite port of call.
Heard several local school music organizations perform: steel drum band; Reggae band; jazz group. Very enjoyable!
