Sail Date: May 2009

This was my second cruise and my husband's first cruise. We flew into Ft. Lauderdale on Sunday morning.  Arrived at Port Everglades around noon.  The line was extremely long and SLOW.  I agree with the previous review - the Carnival Management really needs to look into their Embarkation procedures at this port.  I previously sailed out of Tampa and the Embarkation experience was MUCH more pleasant.  After being in line for approx. 2 hours, we finally were on board and starving!  We went to the Lido Deck and ate lunch outside around the pool.  Our room was ready early and was wonderful.  We had a great room streward taking care of our room.  Very friendly staff.  We enjoyed our balcony room the whole week! The food on the ship was very good.  Nothing outstanding but very good taste and very good variety.  We actually dined at the Sun King Supper Club one night and the food was good - and a wonderful value at $30 each.  Our head waiter in the Posh Dining Room (Junior) was very  friendly and on top of everything.  We really enjoyed our Cruise Director James Dunn.  What an outstanding personality and very informative on every issue.  Carnival has hit the jackpot with this young Cruise Director!  All the shows were just outstanding - from the live dancers to the comedians to karaoke and the dance club. There is ALWAYS some type of entertainment going on the ship. Kudos to the Activities and Entertainment staff - they do a great job!Ports of Call:   Key West - we didn't do any excursions here.  With all the shopping right there near the port we just spent the day on Duvall Street.  Grand Cayman - we did the Shore Snorkel excursion. Not impressed with that snorkeling company or that area for snorkeling.  If I had it to do over, I would bring my own snorkel equipment and probably do one of the excursions that takes you out by boat to snorkel.  Also there were entirely too many Carnival ships docked at this port at one time - 5 total.  Ocho Rios - this was our favorite port of all!  We did the Ultimate Beach Break with Dunn's River Falls excursion.  We went to Dunn's River Falls first - climbing the falls was so much fun.  The guides are great!  Then we went by bus to Dophin Cove Resort and laid on the beach.  There was hamburgers and grilled chicken and beer and rum punch for everyone to enjoy, however this is not much of a 'beach'.  Very small area but we enjoyed this excursion very much.  Jamaica is beautiful - we plan to go back.We did not spend a lot of time in the pool area.  We spent one afternoon at the 'adult' pool.  Although this is called an adult pool area - there were kids everywhere.  We love kids (we have 5 between us) but seeing how this was our honeymoon, we weren't really into hanging out with all the kids in the adult pool area...so we didn't go back there anymore throughout the cruise.Overall this ship is unbelievable.  Even though there are approx. 2, 900 passengers on this ship, there is never a time where it is too crowded or long lines.  Althouth we didn't bring our kids with us on this cruise, it was evident that Camp Carnival did an outstanding job keeping all the children busy.  The ship is beautiful, there is plenty of food and entertainment choices for everyone's taste.  We truly enjoyed our honeymoon with Carnival.  We plan to cruise again with our children in the future.

Cabin Review

Great Balcony and Quiet Location.  We were on the 8th deck at the front of ship and it was a very enjoyable cabin to have.  The balcony rooms are exceptional!
