We booked a 15 day cruise on the Celebrity Millenium going from Auckland, New Zealand to Sydney Australia. We do not recommend any one waste their money on this ship. The ship is old, run down, and the staff does not care about their customers. The furniture and carpet was threadbare. You couldn't take any pictures out the windows because they were to dirty. They didn't clean them the entire 15 day cruise.
If you inquired about seating in any special dining areas, the first question was "What is your cabin number?", if you did not give a higher deck level number, there was not room for you until very late a night, even if the entire room was empty!
The breakfast and lunch buffets were the same every morning. By the end of the trip you were very tired of the choices.
On other cruises we've been on the staff was constantly cleaning and disinfecting to prevent illnesses. We did not see this at More
all on this cruise. Their solution was to give you lots of hand sanitizer. Many people, including us, got very sick on this ship. We were asked to voluntarily isolate ourselves, which we did. We were told if we did not do this we would be turned over the local health officials, thrown off the ship, and we would have to find our own way home. We were also told that we would be compensated for the days we were isolated. As it turned out, their definition of compensation for missing 2 ports of call, is a certificate for 2 days off your next cruise, if used within 12 months. To us, this did not constitute compensation. We have contacted them and were told that is their policy and they do not deviate from it. My advice is; if you get sick do not go the the onboard medical center. Two days off a next cruise that we will not take with them is NOT compensation.
The staff was rude to the customers overall. I was at the customer service and there was a old couple needing help to get their luggage. They thought the cruise line would get it from the airport to the ship, which some cruise lines do, Celebrity Millenium does not. The agent at the desk told them, it was not her problem and did not offer any assistance, other than giving them a couple of t-shirts. If she cared at all, she could have called the airlines and had their luggage sent to the next port of call. Guess that was to difficult. That was the general attitude of most of the staff, they just did their jobs, no more. On other cruises we've been, the wait staff makes the effort to learn your name. They do not on this ship. Don't expect any towel animals in your room either.
Because we were on deck 2, our disembarkment time was at 5:30 AM. This is not the time I like getting up on my last day of vacation. We were then taken directly to the airport. Our flight was not supposed to leave until 3 in the afternoon. We were told we couldn't take any trips that day because our flight was to early!
We did enjoy the ports of call that we got to see, but we didn't like the ship. The entertainment in the theater at night was the passengers doing a talent show. On other cruise we have had professional entertainment brought on to the ship each night. Less
