A getaway for a California cousin's birthday over Thanksgiving was the impetus for selecting this five night getaway.

The pluses: Easy, swift boarding as an Elite Member. Photography team: pleasant and not pushy. Outstanding productions shows three nights: "Disco: Blame it on the Boogie;" "Motor City;" and "Magic to Do: a New Musical." Casual music in the Piazza: the chamber trio was exceptional. Brief show in Piazza by comedian/acrobat was very good. Two meals in the Crown Grill: excellent service and food. Two meals in Sabatini Italian restaurant: excellent service, very good meals. One meal in Wheelhouse Bar (Salty Dog): delicious small plates in a relaxed setting with fine entertainment by a vocalist with an acoustic guitar. Attentive stateroom attendant, lovely mini-suite. Susan G Komen "On Deck for the Cure" fundraising walk. Relaxation in our cabin, reading and playing cards.

The minuses: very crowded on pool deck, many children on the voyage (some with little supervision); buffet lines. Only one choice for "sit-down" lunches (Botticelli) was busy, noisy, and slow service. Horizon Court buffet dining was busy and tables not always easy to find. Comedian entertainer one evening: fair (many edgy or offensive comments and quips.) Activities in "Princess Patter" were mainly centered around purchasing on-board goods and/or services: spa services, shops, artwork, casino/gambling/bingo. No lecturers with interesting topics to amuse, entertain or inform (unless you count the art lectures when they were trying to sell you artwork, or spa services that were basically hawking wares or services.)

Cabin Review

Mini-Suite with Balcony

Spacious living and sleeping area. Hideabed couch available. Large balcony but it had no privacy as there was no cover or ceiling so all the cabins above us could see us when we stepped out onto balcony. Large bathtub; no shower hose, but stationary shower head. Countertop and toiletries storage area was adequate. Room safety box. Adequate hanging and shelving and drawers for personal belongings. Two TVs so could watch in sleeping or sitting areas simultaneously.
