This was our first time on the Allure after doing Oasis Thanksgiving 2014. I read reviews for everything we do and I review everything after. As with any reviews I take with a grain of salt and believe there are just people out there that can’t be satisfied. However now I understand some of the comments people made about the ship and the experience. Since Allure and Oasis are identical there was no element of surprise and excitement about exploring a new vessel. For that I was disappointed in our choice.

Embarkation was slower on this boat. We went again to the pier about 11:15 and getting in was quick with no wait but the waiting started upstairs while they called numbers to board. So we had about an hour wait time. It said the rooms would be ready about 1:00 and they were. They were basic rooms I’ve seen on other cruise lines. I did LOVE the showers we called them our cleansing pods with the perfect water pressure and great hot water. Our cabin steward was efficient and good – we didn’t see him much – friendly but a quiet guy. I ordered ice one morning to take in our soft side ice chest on the island and he brought ice the rest of the week. Towels seemed to always be replaced even though we hung them back up to use again. Beds were super comfortable. But since they are twin beds pushed together you had to go over a big hump to snuggle next to your wife or husband. We had four rooms all together and got our steward to open up the balcony partitions. We could all be out on our 4 room long balcony and one day it was cloudy and off and on drizzle and we pulled chairs and tables together and played games and had drinks on the balcony (there’s a fridge in your room that’s handy!)

Shows: We saw Ice Games, Ocean Aria, Blue Planet, Mama Mia and the adult comedian. All were fantastic. Definitely make your reservations and see them all. Ocean Aria was cancelled the first night but they reschedule one just for our performance so that’s good. My 12 year old son went to the family friendly one on the last night and he came out repeating some things that I didn’t think were exactly kid appropriate.

We walked over to Junkanoo beach - it was about a 25 minute walk from the boat. Kind of a dirty beach with lots of washed up sea weed, rough water and not as clear for snorkeling. Got chairs for $5. Stayed there about 2 hours and went back to boat to have drinks and lunch.
