Sail Date: Oct 2016
Cabin: Deluxe Veranda 1C

Ship: embarkation was smooth & fuss free at Southampton. The crossing was made effortless being on the Eclipse. The most spacious ship we've encountered & beautiful too. Plenty of activities as well as bracing walks up on deck or relaxing in a hammock or lounger around the pool outdoors or in the 'Aquarium' as we called it - the solarium/ indoor pool.

Weather: For the 6 day crossing we both wore shorts everyday, only one or two cold days although the wind was very strong sometimes and one very warm day 73 F. The Atlantic swell made for a few hairy moments carrying cups of tea but overall we managed very well & were not sea sick at all. I really believe it is mind over matter; keep busy & outside, suck on mints or ginger & stay in the midships area. ( our cabin was located forward but we slept very well despite some rocking). Once we arrived in the USA Boston & NYC were beautifully sunny but cool, Bermuda was perfect temperature ( although we had rain just as we left!) and Nassau and Miami were very hot. Very good for the first half of November we thought , we had expected far worse.

Food: We had pre purchased 5 upgraded meals, just for variety but found the MDR to be of excellent standard. In future we will probably upgrade as we go, as offers could be had on the night which were equal to the dining package we bought . Murano was outstanding but alas we could visit only once, unless we paid the $50 pp charge.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1C

Cabin 1C

Space is very good in the cabin; good service & cleanliness from our stewards, we particularly enjoyed room service breakfast in our cabin/ on the balcony. Could do with more drawers. Bathroom was well laid out with plenty of storage but the shower was not powerful enough and needs a hand held attachment, the fixed over head type is not great for women!

Port Reviews

Southampton

Only embarked here, although we visited Winchester Cathedral first, most excellent and close by.

New York (Manhattan)

Visited Central Park, Wall Street, Brooklyn Bridge, Battery Park, Castle Clinton, World Trade Centre & The Hi Line railway green walk. Rode the Subway, very dirty horrible place.

Nassau

I'm rating as average just because we didn't take a tour & the town didn't have much to offer for us. We will definitely rent a taxi or boat for half a day next time to see the rest of the island.
