This was our first cruise so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but as far as expectations go, I thought the Norwegian Getaway had everything you could want.

There were enough restaurants on the ship that we didn't have time to try them all. The bars all made great drinks. My teenagers had a great time with the fellow teens they met on the ship. They were running around till all hours in the morning.

The entertainment was ok, but I wasn't expecting world class singers and performers here. You have to be realistic, right?

Cabin Review

Family Mini-Suite with Balcony

Cabin M2

We had two cabins connecting for the 5 of us. We had plenty of room for all our stuff (I was nervous about that.) The balconies are small, but good for you and your wife to sit and have a cup of coffee in the morning, or a glass of wine in the afternoon. The 13th deck was nice because it was only 2 flights up to the pool deck and the Garden Café, where we ate all our breakfasts. The downside is that you're 6 floors above where all the restaurants and entertainment are (Decks 6, 7, and 8), so you have to use the elevators. But overall, the elevators weren't too bad. I think 3 or 4 minutes was the longest we ever had to wait for one. Also, the kids club is on 12 and 13 but you could not hear anything from our cabin.

Port Reviews

Miami

We flew into Miami the night before our cruise and stayed at The Savoy hotel on South Beach. The hotel is close to lots of restaurants. It's right on the beach. They even have chairs and loungers for you on the beach. The hotel is very affordable. I would recommend it to anyone cruising.

Harvest Caye

It was a cloudy and rainy day for our visit to Harvest Caye, which was too bad. We didn't really play in the ocean much. We did the zip lining, and that was fun. Then we sat in the pool at the swim up bar for some drinks.

It's nice to go to a port where you don't have to worry about transportation, or where should I go . . . you just walk off the boat and choose between the pool or the ocean. It makes for a very relaxing day.

Costa Maya

You can take a trolley for $3 per person, or a taxi cab for $2 per person to the fishing village called Mahahaul. There are about 5 or 6 restaurants all in a row here that have food and drinks and beach chairs. We ended up at the Crazy Lobster. It was good enough. The water is beautiful here. great place for just sitting in a chair and relaxing. If you're looking for snorkeling or adventure, this is not the place for you.
