We had wanted to cruise on the NCL Epic since it's launch and were disappointed when we discovered it had gone to Europe. Imagine our pleasant surprise to see it was back in the US for Caribbean stops! However, our overall experience was fair at best. This was our fourth cruise with Norwegian and this one ranks last out of those four. In speaking with other guests we have found that we are not alone in our opinion of the NCL Epic. Too many people!! The layout of the ship is not favorable, the crew was pleasant enough but we have been on other cruises with much more personable crews.

There were little things with our dining experiences that were somewhat disappointing, including no service at one restaurant we sat in. For instance, one morning there was no bacon in the buffet line, once they did get the bacon out imagine everyone in the area trying to get in line to get bacon. One night the beverage station had no tea. There may have been tea at another station but why should I have to walk to another area of the garden cafe to get tea? One morning the french toast was very soggy, almost raw in the middle. These types of things seem petty, but on the other hand, based on previous cruises, this does not meet NCL's standard for food service.

Highlights of the cruise were Siglo, a classic rock band we thoroughly enjoyed seeing and meeting; the Epic Beatles, and the dance show "Burn the Floor". I may also add that our 12 year old enjoyed the Splash Academy kids club. We also took advantage of the spa membership, which is a must for us. Our embarkation experience was not bad, it went relatively smooth. Our disembarkation experience was even better. Using the "express" disembarkation made things very easy and smooth. Keep in mind that you must be able to carry/wheel your own luggage if you choose that method.
