With the exception of the nightly shows, we did not take part in any of the ship's activities but the activities arranged with our CC friends kept us busy. We held a cabin crawl, slot pull, luncheon and gift exchange, LCR and game days, private Chef's Tables and wine dinner, and astronomy lectures by Fred, the astronomy guy, who volunteered his own time to present fascinating slides and information on the sky. Royal Caribbean would be wise to snatch him up as a guest lecturer as he was more engaging than any other that we've ever seen. In every port we arranged private excursions with other CC people which were wonderful.

We love westbound transatlantics since the cruise is more port intensive in the beginning leaving us many sea days to relax and recuperate before returning home. You also have to love the extra hour added to at least 5 of the days. The captain tacked those on before port days allowing us to not feel like we were so rushed to get up early and get off the ship.

This was our first cruise as Diamond and we enjoyed the extra perks in the Diamond Lounge. One day we chose to use our pre-loaded drinks to share with a non-Diamond couple whom we connected with. My husband loves cappuccino and would go up to the DL to get some a couple of times a day. He had breakfast up there early in the cruise and shortly thereafter started to vomit. He thought it was food poisoning so went to the ship's doctor who gave him a shot and confined him to the cabin for 24 hours in case it was Norovirus. They brought him bland food and bottled water, encouraged him to select movies to watch which were reimbursed and even sent a letter at the end of the cruise stating that he would get credit toward a future cruise for that day's confinement. All of those services were free and protected the rest of the ship so he was glad to cooperate.

I love the interior hallway off the main hallway but I'm not sure what was above us as often we heard things rolling over our head at night. Also when the sea was a little rough we rocked from head to toe instead of side to side which wasn't as pleasant.
