With the exception of my daughter's wedding at Firefly in Jamaica, which was amazing, this had to be one of the worse cruises I have taken in all the years of cruising. The check-in went smoothly after a considerable wait. Our cabin was on the aft of the ship overlooking the wake. We love this location and usually choose it when we cruise. When we opened the door to our cabin I was disappointed to see a single door out to the balcony instead of a sliding door. The balcony was a nice size but was dirty as well as the large glass, under the railing, on the balcony. We had received a flyer that stated our glass would be cleaned but it never was. The lighting and the paintings all over the ship are impressive but the ship is certainly showing it's age. I was surprised to see how small the pools were with so many passengers. The food was mediocre and the wait for the Anytime Dining was ridiculous. Our room steward was great but the rest of the staff acted like they wanted to be anywhere except on the Conquest. Normally when we have cruised the staff is friendly, smiles, and is very helpful. The staff on the Conquest were sullen and some actually rude. I've never had this kind of experience with any cruise ship I have sailed. I don't know if the ship was short staffed but this staff certainly was not what I had experienced in the past. The ship lacked for exciting entertainment and the Cruise Director had a voice that was nauseating. I do have to say that my Grandchildren really enjoyed the Kids program on the ship. Normally we love to cruise, have a great time, and look forward to a relaxing vacation at sea. Unfortunately this was not one of those cruises.
