We sailed on this cruise during Thanksgiving break of 2016. I have sailed on probably more than 30 cruises on a variety of cruise lines, but had not yet sailed on MSC. I was a bit unsure about this cruise line based on previous reviews, and wasn't sure what to expect. I sailed with my husband and 8 year old daughter, as well as friends of ours who also had an 8 year old daughter. Ultimately we chose this ship because of the price - it was a great deal with the kids sail free feature, and despite this incentive there weren't a ridiculous number of children on the ship.
What we found was a very attractive ship, comfortable stateroom, and very hardworking staff members. Our cabin had comfortable beds, and my daughter reported that the pull out couch was very comfortable. As others have mentioned, the shower is different, but I really liked that it was hard plastic (rather than a curtain), and that it could be disassembled to make more room in the bathroom. I did find a lot of traffic noise from outside our cabin, and in the night when people walked by our cabin I felt vibrations in the bed. We traveled with friends and were able to adjoin our balconies, which was nice.
Even though I'm not much of a show person, I loved the evening shows, many of which involved a diversity of singing, dancing, acrobatics, and even magic. Also impressive were the large number of venues with live music during the evening, and different venues had different kinds of entertainment (pop music, classics, classical music, opera, etc.).
Nicely appointed and comfortable beds. This cabin overlooks the lifeboats, and there is a lot of foot traffic outside. Found it a bit noisy, and when the lifeboats were painted there were a lot of fumes in the room (this happened a couple of times(. I'd prefer a different location next time. I did like having the overhang, which helped protect from the elements. Room connects to 10089, so can hear a bit more from that cabin. That cabin has the nicer balcony.
