We chose C&MV for their cost and scheduling. Ship, Magellan, also possessed the amenities we desired. Once embarked we found our impressions gathered from the C&MV literature to have been accurate. Ship was clean, crew professional at all levels, food very good and shore visits as described. We like the adults only provision.

We chose to go cruising as it afforded us a leisurely way to see an area (the Baltic and its nations) that we'd not spent a lot of time in. We also wanted to travel in a way that would allow us to spend a maximum amount of time with an older British friend that we've traveled extensively with in the past. He is in his mid 80s, my wife and I in early 70s. Both our friend and I have given up driving (our friend has given up completely, I have given up in England and to a limited extent on the continent). Thus a driving tour was ruled out. We also wanted to avoid the perturbations associated with bus touring - off the bus, eat your meal, go to bed, get up, get your bag down stairs, gobble down breakfast, get on the bus - wait for the slow to eat/act - set off for your next destination. This is not for the elderly!

Dining aboard Magellan was a pleasant experience. Food was very good, well presented and properly served. Some of the more junior service staff did, however, seem slightly unsure of the finer points of service, but they always tried hard and were always pleasant and up-beat.
