Left Miami on 05/23. This was our 3rd Carnival cruise... Getting on board was a breeze we had someone that needed wheelchair assistance. And off we were through security and the VIP desk, process was about 10 mins... Ship was in good order. We had the standard Carnival inside room, not a ton of space but nice, was always kept clean and in order (cleaned 2 times a day). Room steward was very attentive and nice.

Food was on par for carnival, buffett was so so... To avoid all the lines in the buffett area we tried to do breakfast or lunch in the dining room less crowded meals seemed better prepared plus you had decent wait staff.

The cruise director was probally the best of all carnival ships, Butch was his name very entergetic kept people involved..

We had two main drawbacks, the table placement for the maindinign room we were in the silver dining room and had table that was off to the side had a window but no view of the entertainment etc. I bumped into the main dining room man with the capitan on the elevator I requested another table and got nothing just a smile and yes we are booked to full capacity.

Second issue was the drink service in the main lounge and other areas, it was simply non existant.

Overall not the worse experience ever, but next time we will choose a different cruise line.

Port and Shore Excursions

We rented a coupld of carts from Nathan, you have to walk outside the gate. The Turk island is a disaster since the hurricane. I would not spend the money doing any island exploring just save the cash and sit by the pool or the beach. Souviners are non existant outside of the cruise lines shops and the best restaurant in town once you see it you will head back to the ship...

Next Day was San Juan, very nice place, best think is to just get on the tram and go to the forts and to downtown. Cheap and easy. El Morro is a nice fort for the kids to explore and gives them a nice history lesson. Several nice places to eat and drink in old san juan, food was excellent and reseaonable priced. The Don Q rum factory outlet is near the pier, looks like a office but there are "free" drinks and the rum is great makesure to try the coconunt.

Nice place very safe and reasonable prices. Cruise line has several shops right off the pier, would recommend going downtown its a nice area to see the old shops etc. Try a bushwacker its a strong local drink get a local or two then you will need help getting back on the boat....

We used Henry with eeetours. I have to say a super nice guy, very knowledgeable easy to get along with. I will say the tour was a disappointment ... Hery tried to jugle us with 10 other people from another Carnival ship that was arriving later so we went shopping then he was late to pick us up by an hour finally made the tour, the banana drink place had recently caught fire and was closed. We prefered to go to Megans Bay but the other tribe wanted to go free so we went to Sapphire, was of but kinda rocky... Henry had to leave early and take the other tribe back shopping as they were not having an enjoyable time so we were worried he would not return in time; but he did so no issues...

Would recommend just taking a taxi to town, 4 bucks a person, the buying a trip from little switzwerland 25 bucks a person. And you are good to go. But try Megans Bay there is a small fee like 3 USD but its a beautiful place.
