We booked the whole package with NCL and did not get off to a good start. The flight from London was delayed and we we not given much information and nearly missed the flight (some people did miss the flight and had to make their way to the ship at their own expense). We arrived on board just in time for muster.
The Epic is a huge ship and most of the decks are taken up with cabins. It took a long time to get anywhere as there are only two sets of elevators at either end of the ship. The cabin design as others have mentioned was very poorly designed, the curved walls took up too much space and the bathroom set up was awkward, I was in the shower which is right near the door and the steward walked in.
The entertainment was great, Pricilla, Queen of the Desert comparable to a West End performance. Did not like the Cavern Club, not enough seats and a very rowdy crowd although, the barmaid was one of the fastest and best on the ship, always remembered your name and drink she had the ability to serve several people at once unlike some of the bars where the bar staff were painfully slow. Rock Jam night was excellent, the band Sligo are really good and had us all dancing and headbanging. Very interesting series of seminars on the history of Naval Aviation, given with an American perspective but very enjoyable. Pedro, the cruise director, never seems to stop working, he seems to be everywhere greeting people and making sure your having a good time. Was particularly impressed with his organisation of a remembrance service on 11 November.
Beware this cabin is adjacent to the Splash Academy and you will hear lots of children screaming and running around until late in the evening. Was not keen on the cabin set up, bathroom facilities offered no privacy and curved walls took up too much room. Easy access to deck 15.
Not very much to see only stepped off the ship briefly. Lots of beggars and drunk/drugged people in the town.
