This is my 2nd cruise with NCL, I am completely enthusiastic about the personnel, and the ship. I will, however, probably not cruise with them again. My 1st issue is with NCL's new private island in Belize. Years ago I cruised on Norwegian Caribbean Lines, the forerunner of NCL. We stopped at a private island with very few amenities. It did, however, offer a great beach and a very good snorkeling reef within easy swimming distance of the beach. Food & drink were brought onto the island via ship's tenders and we all ate on the beach.
At their new island, however, they have great amenities. A great beach, zip lines, kayak rentals, etc. My objection is that they charge (outrageously) for food. The island is owned by NCL for the exclusive use of their ships. I should not have to buy food that I could get for free on board, and I should be able to sign for drinks, not be required to pay cash. $20.00 for a burger and a soft drink is not appropriate. Unfortunately is is a long walk along the quay to the gangway of the ship so it is not really convenient to just hop on & off whenever you are hungry or thirsty.
I think NCL needs to do a better job of ensuring the accuracy of shore excursion descriptions. We selected a river tubing excursion in Belize. What the description DID NOT say was that a 1 hr bus ride was required each way in order to enjoy what was advertised as a 1 hr river excursion, but was actually closer to 45 mins. Had I known about the bus ride I would have selected a different excursion.
An actual bathroom and shower/tub! Easily accommodated the 4 of us, including luggage. It was not a large balcony, but was serviceable and we rarely used it anyway.
