This was our second Oceania cruise. We had really enjoyed the Regatta when we sailed on a 7-night Alaska cruise (RT out of Seattle) in July of 2014, liked the itinerary (Montreal to Miami), and even booked the same stern cabin (7121). We were set for a wonderful 2 weeks.

We flew in the day before we sailed and had booked into a small hotel in Old Montreal, Auberge Bonaparte. We had also booked dinner reservations in the well regarded restaurant of the same name downstairs for that evening. The weather was pretty foul (cold and rainy) and the street was torn up curb to curb for renovation of the building across the street and sewer work. Getting to, and into, the hotel was a real challenge, but the staff was incredibly helpful. They made us feel welcome even before we set foot inside by meeting us with umbrellas and a luggage cart in the parking lot. We were early (about 11:30 am) so our room was not ready yet. We checked our luggage with the front desk and, dressed for the weather, set out to do some exploring. We visited the Notre-Dame Basilica (just around the corner) and did some walking to get a feel for the city since we had not visited Montreal before. When we returned to the hotel between 1:30 and 2:00, our room was ready. Armed with a complimentary glass of excellent Champagne we boarded the small elevator and headed for our room. The luggage was right behind and we were set to relax until our 8:30 dinner reservations. With the non-stop rain, we were very glad to have reserved downstairs. The fine food and a nice 1/2 bottle of Sancerre made for an excellent evening. Breakfast the next morning was included and of the same high quality as our dinner. I definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant highly.

After breakfast, we did a little more exploring and visited the SAQ Signature Store for a specific bottle of wine for the trip before we left to check in at the temporary cruise port. The permanent cruise terminal is being renovated as part of the reconstruction that seems to be going on all over Montreal.
