Took the Norwegian Jade, first cruise out of Tampa after re-positioning. A week prior to the cruise, I called Norwegian to see if I could get an upgrade cabin. I was told there was a room left, told the location of the cabin and would be upgraded if I could hold. When the agent returned, she said that she checked with her supervisor and there were no cabins left. Either she didn't know what she was talking about, or she lied.
Upon boarding the ship and ready to sail at 4pm, we sat at the Port of Tampa for an additional 3 hours due to some mechanical issues. The ship had been in port for 3 days prior to sailing, so I was uncertain why they wouldn't do a "pre-check" of the ship so it would be ready to sail on Sunday. If you wanted a drink while in port, we were subject to the 7% tax while in port, which in my opinion, should have been waived since it wasn't our fault we were sitting in port for so long. Also, we did not receive any information or updates why we were still waiting to sail.
I was given the Ultimate Beverage package as an free upgrade when booking my trip, but that turned into the Unlimited Beverage package. Beware, it doesn't include water. Drink all of the alcohol you can, but you can't have water. You also can't get coffee except for in the buffet or restaurants. If you're scheduled to go to Harvest Caye, the new Norwegian Island at Belize, be aware that nothing is included on the island. You have to pay for your drinks and food, unlike other islands owned by Royal Caribbean, etc. No sense in getting off the ship unless you want to do an excursion (parasailing, zip line, etc.). To me, this is double dipping the guest. There should have been some kind of notice, either written in the day planner or a sign when you get off the ship. They are not being transparent.
Take your wallet, not just your Freestyle Card. You must purchase your drinks and food on the island. Nothing is included.
