We enjoyed our five-day cruise out of Tampa with stops in Grand Cayman and Cozumel. We had rain the first sea day but there was still plenty to do inside. We had a junior suite that was very spacious and comfortable. There was some water that leaked from the tub but nothing a small towel couldn't handle. Our cabin attendant took care of the basics and was very good about not bothering us and cleaning while we were out. My husband enjoyed the casino though I wish it was 100% non-smoking. Also, there needs to be more room around the craps table; they should take out one of the lesser used games or some slots to make room. The dealers were very friendly and helpful. The nightly shows were just okay with the exception of the comedians who were very good. We enjoyed dinner at the main dining hall. One night we didn't see anything too appealing for dinner so we went to the specialty restaurant Izumi instead. It is a little hard to find, located where they used to have Johnny Rockets on the top back of the ship. The food there was EXCELLENT! We loved the sushi rolls and ordered the hot rock beef/chicken which was fun to prepare.
We didn't book any excursions ahead of time and played it by ear. In Grand Cayman we spent the day at the beach. The first public beach was super busy so we walked down to the Westin and "borrowed" their beach area/chairs. In Cozumel we took a taxi to Mr. Sancho's, an inclusive beach area. Don't let the name mislead you, Mr. Sancho's was a professionally run establishment with drinks and food included for the price of admission. We had a great time there and rented paddle boards for the first time ever.
Overall we enjoyed our first "short" cruise. Brilliance isn't a new ship so don't expect ever bell and whistle but the staff was great and there was plenty to do.
Very spacious. We originally booked a junior suite because we thought we would bring our two small children (we didn't). The walk in closet and tub in the bathroom were a nice upgrade, though I did feel seasick after taking a bath. I would recommend pulling out the dividing curtain next to the bed to block out that little bit of sunshine so you can really sleep in! It was a bit of a walk down the hall to the room so next time we are booking the same room but closer to the middle of the ship.
Didn't spend much time at the port. There seemed to be shopping and places to eat nearby but not the prettiest port area.
The public beach we were taken to was VERY crowded and the chairs and umbrellas seemed overpriced. We walked about a mile down the beach but most areas are private. If you bring your own towels and beach chairs you could have some nice areas if you are willing to walk.
