Chose this cruise as the Panama Canal was on our bucket list of cruise 'musts'. Quite concerned re the number of negative views however we have sailed with a number of cruise lines including Holland America, Princess, NCL so we are not new to cruising and know people's expectations/experiences are different.
What was good. Really liked the Coral Princess, right size and passenger capacity not to feel like you are sailing on a floating city or in a sardine tin meaning there was always place to sit on the sun deck / find a table at meal times/ sit in a hot tub/ use the pool. Staff at all levels in the dining facilities were exceptionally helpful, going out their way to get drinks. Special commendation to the Head Waiter who joined the ship whilst we were on cruise and seemed to have eyes and ears everywhere and kept the dining room moving.
Food itself, really nothing to complain about! Pizza's were always hot, food plentiful, evening meals of a good standard and never did I find beef anything but cooked as ordered. Some of the chocolate deserts were pure decadence. If there was one exception it proved to be the five minutes I had to wait for a fried egg; passengers being required to place their order, take a number and sit down and wait for a waiter to bring your egg to you. I am aware other passengers shared similar experience and frustration.
Cabin was good, extremely well placed for the cruise. There was a loud noise coming from pipes that woke us two or three times during the cruise, seemed to be coming from duct in corridor.
