Chose Solstice because of positive reviews and their General reputation of being a superior cruise line. We stayed at the Hotel Boss in Singapore. This is a new budget hotel with very small rooms but for an overnight stay it was good
The embarkation on 31st October can only be described as a disaster. From the time we arrived at the terminal until we stepped aboard the ship was 3 hours. Never experienced such a shambles on any cruise ship before
The ship had only come out of dry dock after a refit that morning and everything was sparkling and new
The cabin was larger than ships we had sailed on before. The balcony was larger with comfortable furniture we had twin beds and have never slept in a more comfortable bed on any other cruise ship. The bathroom was very roomy with plenty of storage shelves and cupboards. The showeralcove was large with glass sliding doors and shower screen
No Australian PowerPoint is available in the cabin and bathroom and no advice was given about this prior to the cruise. We had to "hire" one from customer services for $USD40
A bit angry about this as I have several American/Australian points home and could have easily brought one. Most other American ships cruising in Australian waters have at least one Australian socket in the cabin
The cabin steward was excellent. Nothing too much trouble for him and he was not intrusive while we were in the cabin
