Decided on taking this cruise, as we were interested in visiting the Asian countries/ports: Hong Kong, Vietnam (3 ports), Thailand & Singapore,; and wanted to try one of Celebrity's Millennium-class ships(we've already sailed on their Century and Solstice-class ships. I must admit that I was worried as to what the condition of the ship might be after reading numerous, somewhat negative reviews of the ship over the past 12 months. I'm happy to share that for a ship that's been in service for nearly 17 years, I don't believe the negative reviews of the ship's condition are justified. The condition of the ship appears to have been lovingly maintained. In fact I thought the condition of the ship was exceptional for its' age. Service was good in all areas. Food was very good in the Main Dining Room (though everything needed additional salt in my opinion- but I have to confess that I'm a salt-a-holic), and we appreciated the fact that portion sizes were sensible- leading to little food waste. Our Main Dining Room wait/beverage staff were exceptional. Within 2 days they knew our drink/food preferences, and could "read our minds" before we even ordered- again exceptional, and what one comes to expect on a cruise.

In addition to eating in the MDR, we purchased a 3-meal specialty dining package. Very much enjoyed our meals at Tuscan Grille and Qsine. The third restaurant, Sushi on 5, is another story. This restaurant seems to have been abruptly thrown together, replacing what I believe was formally Bistro on 5. There doesn't seem to have been much (if any) effort in converting this dining venue, and because of this, you certainly don't feel like you're in a sushi restaurant. It's unfortunate, as you don't feel the "hip" vibes that are common in contemporary sushi restaurants. Add to that the fact that the sushi selection really isn't that good and you've got a formula for failure. The restaurant was nearly empty most of the cruise. Too bad- it could be successful with more effort on the part of Celebrity(change the atmosphere to a true, hip Sushi "Bar" and you'll fill it.)

Selection and quality of the food in their Ocean View Café was very good, but unfortunately, it was often difficult to find an empty table for eating with all the passengers.

Cabin Review

Deluxe Ocean View with Balcony 2A

Cabin 2A

Cabin/veranda was fine, but I sensed it was smaller than the cabin/veranda our last cruise on Equinox. After the cruise I did some research and yes it was: Millennium cabin/veranda- 208 total Sq. ft; while Equinox's cabin/veranda- 248 total sq. ft..
