Embarkation: Absolutely amazing. It is so good, that if they roll this kind of check in on other ships, it will make priority check in obsolete, it was that good. 15 minutes door to ship max. They meet you at the door as you walk up with your check in luggage. They review your check in information and they stamp your set sail pass and direct you through security. Once through security, it’s up the escalator and onto the ship. It was that easy. Barely any security lines at noon. The only improvement would be the processing of luggage at street side, but it wasn’t bad considering.
The ship: Modern cruising at its best. The public rooms were great. This was the biggest ship I’ve ever been on, and in being 2nd class size in the world to the oasis class, I’m a bit scared to go bigger. The design of this ship is pretty simplistic if you look at it. Food is all in the rear. Entertainment venues are center to forward. That’s all you really have to remember. I will go into details of the specific common areas later.
Cabin: We had a balcony room on deck 8. The rooms on this ship are a bit different than other ships I’ve been on. They are thinner, but longer. The room width is maybe slightly bigger than the length of the bed, enough for you to walk by the foot of the bed, but that’s about it. Could not be more than 8 feet wide. However, it’s longer than expected. Long enough to put in a couch and a desk and still have room to maneuver. The bathrooms are small, but the showers are slightly bigger than before. You could actually fit two people in the shower stall, but it would be tight. One person was fine. Try doing that in other classes of ships. They also had more power options than before. Not only are there the standard two plugs next to the desk, they also have two more USB power plugs for your devices as well as a plug (only one though) next to the bed. It takes a little bit getting used to, but once you get over the thinness of the room, you realize that they actually utilized the space in the room better than the traditional square rooms.
This room is thinner than usual, but longer. The result actually gave us more space than other rooms of the same class on other ships. The balcony was small, but that was expected. It was big enough to hold two loungers and a small table.
Best embarkation ever.
If you haven't actually walked into old town San Juan, you're missing a lot. The first time i was in San Juan, I did not get a chance to walk into town. This time I did and I was surprised at how vibrant and energetic it is. People there are so friendly and willing to share their experiences with you. I would definitely come back here
Its a private resort owned by Royal Caribbean. Its a nice beach outing, but that's about it.
