Avoid Cabins 5544 and 5546 like the plague - no chance of sleep in them.

We chose this cruise as we were going with friends who had not cruised before (we have cruised twice both with Celebrity) and as she works in a school we were limited to school holidays. The itinerary was good and we enjoyed all the ports that we stopped at particularly Zadar and Kotor which were both stunning. Especially the approach to Kotor which was magical.

Our cabins were 5544 and 5546 which despite being told they would be quiet were right above the gangway. Our cabin 5546 was opposite the door where the room stewards went in and out. Every time we docked (usually 6am but it was 2am in Barcelona) we heard the gangway go down with the clanging of chains etc etc. and all the accompanying noises of docking which went on for up to an hour. From approx 6am every morning the room stewards were in and out of the door opposite us with the door banging and closing literally every minute from 6 am until we got up. I am amazed that NCL can charge for these rooms as the noise was dreadful. Iglu had messed up our Speciality Dining Package (no fault of NCL) so we had already had to deal with Guest Services and noticed a sign saying the ship was full and there could be no room changes. We therefore did not bother to mention it. But on dealing with Guest Services about the Iglu mix up we found them less than helpful and almost disinterested. We had our booking confirmation with us and showed them that both couples had the speciality dining package but strangely -they did not take that as confirmation.

With the Ultimate Beverage Package it was great we didn't have to pay anything extra at all but we so wished that water and specialty coffees were included in this.

Cabin OB

We had 5546 and our friends 5544. These were incredibly noisy cabins due to the proximity of the gangway and the stewards room where the doors were continually opening/shutting and slamming from 6am. The cabins were roomy and had plenty of storage space but this in no way made up for the noise from us docking at 6am every day with all the associated noises continuing for an hour and the noise from the stewards room.
