Sail Date: Oct 2016

While this was my 11th cruise, it was my first on Princess. Our ship departed from Brooklyn on October 27th with three stops in the Caribbean before disembarkation in Fort Lauderdale.

Overall I like the ship. The food in the main dining room was probably the best I've had on any cruise line. The pizza in the Pizzeria was also very good but not as good as the pasta dish there! I'd give the buffet a grade of C. Food choices seemed limited and didn't really vary much from day to day. And the overall layout of the buffet was very confusing.

The decor of the ship is neutral -- which is generally a good thing. Some ships can be garish and carnival like (no pun intended). My only complaint about the decor was the artwork in the stairwells looked like it was purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond.

Port Reviews

Bonaire

One of my new favorite ports! Beautiful town, we enjoyed cheap beers and appetizers on a pier over the water right near the ship.

Antigua

First of all it was independence day, so most shops were closed. Be prepared for aggressive taxi and tour operators. We did walk around a few blocks in town. It smelled like urine and even though the shops were closed we didn't see anything we would have wanted to go into.

St. Maarten

One of the better ports in the Carribean. We've been to Orient Beach in the past, but this time just enjoyed walking around the town.

New York (Manhattan)

Really like sailing out of Brooklyn. Stay in Brooklyn to avoid the high priced Manhattan hotels and have easy access to the Port.
