Booked this cruise after having some rough times at home. Chose Breakaway for driving proximity (to save on airfare). Did not research the fact that parking at the cruise port was $280 (including tax). Would have enjoyed a 7 day warm cruise more than a 4-5 day warm cruise and the last 2 days being downright cold! Ship is really beautiful, very easy to navigate. Public rooms are easy to get to. A few more elevators would be a plus. A big, big plus would be better accomodations for smokers. We understand the regulations, not a problem. But for the most part, the popular outside smoking spot is on Deck 8 - the Waterfront, at the Maltings. There should be more seating. There should be more ashtrays. There should be a trashcan. There DEFINITELY should be some sort of heat lamp, or heat source for the colder nights. Maltings outside bar could do a rousing business if the smokers weren't so cold, and just stay outside for the duration of a smoke. The food was delicious in every restaurant, complementary and paid. 100% improvement over our cruise on the Epic 5 years ago. Liked the companionship of like minded northerners - gave a different vibe. Lost a port stop at Great Stirrup Cay because of Hurricaine Matthew damage. Would have been nice for NCL to offer a few evening ship-sponsored excursions (for safety) in Nassau, in the evening, since we berthed there overnight.
Cabin was roomy and clean. Steward was average at best, but did his job. Not friendly, nothing over the top. No reason to add to his pre-paid gratuity. 5th cruise, first time the cabin steward wasn't an integral part of out experiences. Having already sailed on the Epic, having a sink in the actual bathroom was heaven! Shower was roomy - wish the water power was stronger. Wish the water was colder in the sink for brushing teeth. Wish the towels were softer and more plentiful. Loved the spa balcony amenaties - Bvlgari Shampoo and Conditioner - amazing! Access to the thermal spa - spectacular (though an extra worker at the desk would make the check in/check out process much quicker).
Cocoa Village is a great spot for a quiet shopping and dining experience for us older folks! Loved it
