My boyfriend and I are in our mid and late 20s that share a love for cruising. We book a cruise at least once and year and have been devout Royal Caribbean fans, but unfortunately this cruise has caused us to second guess our decision. The quality of the food has decreased incredibly, we were absolutely disappointed from start to finish. From the moment I walked onto the ship and had my first meal at The Windjammer, I was completely disgusted. We were on the Grandeur of the Seas the year before and were highly pleased with our overall experience, but with high expectations with for the Anthem we were very disappointed. This disappointment does not reflect the work of the chefs or the waitstaff, if the chefs were given better high quality ingredients, they would be able to execute better and more memorable meals. I can say out of the 13 days onboard, we may have enjoyed 5 entrees. The Windjammer needs a major facelift, the quality of food was absolutely terrible.

The Anthem is a very modern ship, it lacked the luster of the more traditional glamorous cruise ambience. Two70 is the most amazing part of the ship, it is such an innovative room and it truly is the heart of the ship. The space is highly transformable and the technical team did a fantastic job changing the ambience of the room with each performance or event.

We had the large interior cabin and it was such a breath of fresh air from the interior cabins we are used to from the other ships of Royal Caribbean's fleet. We loved the virtual balcony that was in our room, it is an amazing addition but I do need to mention you must press mute to avoid any white noise or unwanted noise from the outside.

Cabin Review

Large Interior Stateroom with Virtual Balcony

Cabin L

Our room is such a great change from the interior cabins we are used to traveling. The room was so spacious and I was highly satisfied with every aspect. There was so much storage space I felt so at home! The room was clean, the space was utilized correctly and everything fit perfectly. The virtual balcony was a great additive and it really was a great to see the outside before even being outside!

Port Reviews

Bayonne (Cape Liberty)

My only complaint was that due to an unexpected inspection of the ship by the US Coast Guard, the traffic getting into the port was horrific!!

Labadee

This is our favorite island to visit, it is a complete relaxing beach day. I recommend having a pair of water shoes because the beaches are very rocky and the sand has sea grass. The island is very safe, we always take a spot at Columbus Cove, it is away from the rocky shore of the beach and it is a complete paradise without being heavily crowded. You can bring your own rafts and water loungers so save some money from renting the floating mats.

Falmouth

We were warned on a previous cruise going to Falmouth that the port was built due to cruisers not wanting to get off the ship to prevent being harassed. We fully understand why Royal Caribbean built such a beautiful port! There are plenty of shops and eateries without having to leave the infamous gate to get into downtown Falmouth. Once you are past the guards and the gate, you are open to the elements. Several cruisers who were brave enough to leave the gates on their own quickly regret their decision. You will be approached by at least one person past the gate offering drugs of any kind. Gated port is great, I personally do not want to leave the gate or do an excursion.
