We upgraded to a balcony since it was such a long cruise. We were in cabin C202. The room was very clean and the balcony was a little bigger than most. Our room steward was extremely attentive and friendly. The ship itself was in good shape and kept clean. We are not ones to attend production shows so I can't speak for those. I heard from others that they were good.
There were plenty of activities for adults. Lei making, ukulele lessons, shows, and swimming pools. I don't think there was much for teenagers beyond the swimming pools. We were not overly impressed with the menus in the main dining rooms and only ate there the first night because we didn't have to "dress" up. Since we really don't enjoy taking two hours to eat a meal or dressing up we weren't too disappointed. The food at the buffets were good as were the burgers and pizza offered out by the pool. We did room service for breakfast several mornings the the food arrived exactly on time. The sandwiches and dessert items at the International Cafe were also our favorites.
We booked all of our excursions thru Princess since this was our first visit to Hawaii. But, next time would probably use a private company such as Roberts Hawaiian or Polynesian Adventures. We enjoyed all of our excursions especially the "Hollywood in Hawaii excursion on Kauai. We had an extremely knowledgeable and witty tour guide. I suggest you book the morning trip out to Pearl Harbor. We were not allowed to get off the tender onto the memorial for safety reasons. This apparently happens quite often in the afternoon due to waves. Keep in mind that Princess caters to an "'older" crowd so there will be a lot of walkers and canes. We would love to do this cruise again to see other parts of the islands.
This is a forward cabin with a slightly larger balcony. We didn't notice any noise coming up from the floors below or above. The room was clean and well kept. The forward part of the balcony (by the rail) can be seen by the balcony above and you can see part of the balcony below you a large portion of the balcony is private.
LA port was very well organized and efficient
