We recently sailed on the Star Princess for a coastal cruise round trip Vancouver. I really enjoy a cruise out of Vancouver round trip … only a ferry and bus ride to get there so no other transportation or hotel requirements.
This was my fifteenth Princess cruise and first time on the Star. In my opinion the ship was in good condition and our room was quite adequate for our needs - Baja deck with a balcony. The food on board was good and a highlight was doing our second Chef’s dinner. What a treat. I have posted photos of this event at [https://flic.kr/s/aHskMeLCH2]. We also dined in Sabatinnis one evening for an excellent meal. The buffet was fine though it did take time to find suitable seating. I think if the weather had been a bit better more people would have eaten outside and that might not have been such an issue.
Service on the ship in most areas was okay, though a bit slow from time to time. I occasionally had to find a server myself. Vines was a great place to be before dinner and their sushi or tapas was good though only the tapas really changed much over the ten days. We took advantage of the Platinum/Elite/Suite treats in Skywalkers most late afternoons.
The cabin was easy to get around in and the balcony was just large enough for a couple of chairs and a small table. The location was forward and we had a couple of rough sea nights and could hear and feel the pounding into the waves. Everything worked fine in the room although my wife said the hair dryer was not very good.
Rent a golf cart ... we did and took advantage of special 4 hour pricing even though we were pretty much done after 3 hours. It was a very fun experience with lots to see and very much a hop on hop off experience as there was lots of off the street parking.
