A short review of our recent sailing on the Norwegian Escape-10/29/16 ......
EMBARKATION: Arrived at the pier at 11:45 am...our boarding time was 12:00. Dropped off bags and went quickly through a shot line through security check in. Once thru there, we went into another line to step up...by your next in line turn, and receive your key cards and final show of documents. This went very quickly. Thought we were on our way to board the ship, as we have ALWAYS done in recent sailings, but was given a number to sit and wait to board the ship. We waited 45 mins, among hundreds of others waiting as well. I must say, we haven't had to do this style of "grouping" to board in years!!
We are now on the ship! Rooms are not ready, so we are off for lunch and headed to the buffet. It was PACKED! As we knew it would be, but easily found a table. The staff was gloved up and handing everything to us, due to the Norovirus on recent sails. This lasted the first 2 days. I will honestly say, the food was average at best, I know we all have different views, different tastes and one view can be the total opposite of another's opinion. This is just that...our opinion. I can't think of one thing the whole week that really was a "Wow" that was awesome factor! We ate in the dining rooms....the wait was long.......but enjoyed some great wine and conversation with "newbies to cruising" beside us. Also ate at O'Sheehans, and never had wings that were hot, as in temperature. We went there several times throughout the week, and each time it was the same. Just average, nothing really that great. In the past, we have sailed the Norwegian Sun, and their sports bar, compared to O'Sheehans, was absolutley fabulous! Not so much here. Overall, where ever we dined....Average at best.
