My OH chose this cruise as we had sailed the Western Med several times, visited the Baltic and had a lovely wine cruise to France and N Spain. The Eclipse was as lovely as ever. We had a balcony room on deck 8 and it was kept in great order for us by great cabin staff. I love having the bed by the balcony to be able to relax in/on the bed and watch the sea is just lovely. The bathrooms I really miss when I go home !

Embarkation was a s smooth and efficient as I have come to expect and after sipping the glass of champagne we were seated at Cafe al Bacio - one of my favourite venues! We were on board for just after 11 and the rooms were ready just after 1 - just perfect. We received our cases in good time and were all "shipshape" by Muster drill time then off to our sail away meeting at the rear of the ship.

The Bay of Biscay was a little choppier than I had previously experienced but I coped and to be honest I have now allayed all fears of the sea sickness I suffered as a kid.The Eclipse made it seem like a smooth sea so that will do for me. The ports I had a mixed reaction to. La Coruna seemed a little run down though it was rather a dismal day. We enjoyed Madeira, the drive to the 2nd highest cliff in the world had me quite on the edge of my seat - it was great to see all the banana trees growing on all the tiered groves. The best excursion was on Gran Canaria where we took the whale and dolphin watching trip. We saw a Bryde's whale and too many dolphins to count. I would re do that trip any time at all and I loved it! The overnight stay in Lisbon was great and it seems that Celebrity is favouring doing more of the same. On the next trip I have booked there is an overnight at Le Havre(Paris) and Amsterdam!

Cabin Review

Deluxe Veranda 1C

Cabin 1C

This cabin has the bed beside the balcony which is my preferred configuration. The cabin is close to the forward elevators - there is no noise or nuisance from that. There is a good view to the rear of the ship from the balcony as the adjacent balcony slopes inwards.

The cabin was quiet and well serviced by staff. It was our second time in this cabin but alas it was booked for my next cruise .

Port Reviews

La Coruna

As the ship's excursions weren't suitable for me as a user with mobility issues, we just wandered into the town. The day's weather wasn't great being a little dull and grey.

Lisbon

Just went into the town on the shuttle bus. Had coffees and went up the Tower.... great views of the city from the top and reasonable price too if €5
