This was our third cruise - first with Celebrity. The embarkation was very quick and as we were conceriege class, we had a special lunch in the MDR before departure. Our balcony cabin, on the 10th floor, was great---quiet and kept spotless by Wilson!
The public areas of the ship are very well taken care of--everything super clean. The Oceanview Cafe food was good and the food in the MDR was very good. My husband is vegetarian and once our waiter, Hector, knew that, he took care of everything with a smile and wonderful service.
We did all of our shore excursions on out own and having done our homework, enjoyed all of the ports except for Ibizia, which did not really have anything to offer except the old town. The talks about the coming destinations were very minimal and no details were given about how to get about if you were NOT on a celebrity tour. They also charged for every shuttle from the boat to town!
Plenty of space--nice sized balcony and kept spotlessly clean. Too bad no one told us we were entitled to afternoon snacks. I found out on the last day and when I said something to the Guest Relations desk---she just looked at me--not even an apology.
Wandered on our own and enjoyed the town.
Went to watch the clock tower at 12:00 and enjoyed walking around
Lovely city - historic buildings and the area around the cathedral were wonderful
Calle Mayor is the central street in Old Town. Street is vibrant with people shopping eating and just walking. Calle Mayor runs from the port up near Plaza Espana
This is the main pedestrian thoroughfare with beautiful architecture in old Cartagena that takes you from the cruise port past the Roman Theatre/Museum, the Church of Santa Domingo, We went to the The Naval Museum (free) and located near the Arsenal by the row of cannons. It contains numerous naval artifacts, ships models and a section on Isaac Peral who was born in Cartagena and designed and built the first submarine. The submarine itself is located in a nearby glass building. There is a small gift shop and exceptionally clean toilets but no cafe.
We took the hop on-off bus to get a feeling of the city and got off at various stops. Great day!
We wandered around and got lost which was enjoyable; visited the cathederal and the Tavira Tower. Unfortunately, it was a Sunday and most shops were closed.
Walked tp (and down) to the Dalt Ville - which is about the only thing worth seeing.
Was our second time, so just enjoyed the market and shops.
We went to the National Marine Musuem and then just enjoyed the old town and great French Pastry.
