This was our first cruise with MSC Cruise Line, and we were skeptical at first about booking, after reading some not so nice reviews, but for the price, and the fantastic itinerary, we chose to give it a try.

From the time we walked on this ship (the Divina), with the beautiful swarovski crystal staircase, until we walked off the ship at the end of our cruise, this ship had the "wow" factor. Divina had just came out of drydock only 2 weeks earlier, and it was the cleanest and most beautiful ship we have ever cruised on (our 14th cruise).

We knew by the 3rd day of our cruise that we would probably rate this a 5 star vacation. Everyone treated us nicely, and made us feel like special guests on this ship. We're looking forward to booking with MSC again, most likely when Seaside sets sail. However, I like to visit different places, so if Divina ever changes her itinerary, I'd book this ship again without hesitation.

Cabin Review

Balcony Stateroom

Cabin B1

We booked a balcony cabin, and I paid the extra $50.00 / person to make sure I picked the room, because I didn't want to take the chance of getting a balcony over top of a lifeboat. Divina is broken up with balconies located in, and further out. Some balconies are obstructed with the angle they have, depending on where you are on the ship.

We chose to get one near the rear of the ship. We were about the 9th cabin from the back on the portside. I chose this side because I wanted to be able to video tape the El Morro Fort and Lighthouse as we pulled into port. It was the perfect location.

Our stateroom was beautiful and very clean. Edi was our stateroom attendant, and he did a fantastic job making sure we had everything we needed.

It took awhile for us to get adjusted to having the key card in a slot on the wall as you come in your door of the stateroom, otherwise the lights would go off. But we adjusted about the 3rd day in our cruise.

Port Reviews

Miami

Beautiful port, however, we live in Florida, so we did not book any shore excursions here.

Nassau

We didn't book a sure excursion, for our time in port was only going to be about 4 - 5 hours. We chose to just get off the ship, take some photos, and get back on the ship. We've been to Nassau 6+ times already. We were a little surprised how there were stickers all over the Nassau sign that welcomes you to the port, and all over the light posts. I actually thought it looked worse than the last time we were there, which was about 4 years ago.

St. Maarten

Our plan was to just get off the ship and ride the water taxi over to Phillipsburg to do some shopping, but now they have vendors right as you get off the ship. So we did some shopping at the local vendors that was in the vicinity of the cruise port, We only stayed off the ship for about 2 hours.

San Juan

We absolutely loved it here, and would love to go back some day. The people were kind, and we chose to catch the local free trolley, which ended up being a total nightmare. We visited the El Morro Fort and Lighthouse. We paid $12.00 (for 2 people), for a taxi to take us back to the port. It had just rained that morning, and the humidity was very very high. Our ship stayed into the late night, so we later got back off our ship, and toured Old Town San Juan, and did some shopping. There are so many beautiful scenes there, and I took hundreds of photos. We had a great time.
