As a first time cruiser, I am going to preface this by saying that it is possible that my best friend and I may have had higher expectations than we should have. Of course, we had seen the exciting commercials and read all the hype about the newest ship of RC fleet when we booked the trip, so we were VERY thrilled to getting away from daily life.
(I reviewed my stateroom below.) The remainder of the ship is beautiful, there is no doubt. The open elevators with the glass décor is quite breath-taking. The pools and especially the Solarium were beautiful. The view from the North Star is spectacular! However, you couldn't really use either of the two "big" pools because they were either too crowded or they were drained. The Solarium was certainly our favorite part of the ship!!! It is an adult-only space (we saw this enforced, thank you RC!) with cascading pools and hot tubs.
Oddly, on a 9 night cruise, I saw my stateroom attendant twice. The first night I had asked for some ice and then I didn't see him again until the 5th or 6th day. He did a VERY GOOD job cleaning my room, he was just absent whenever I needed something. I never did get any ice.
So my stateroom was supposed to be larger than my friend's (and I paid more money!) However, they were the exact same size. (She was in 10705.) I am not sure if there are some inaccuracies in the maps of the ship or something else happened, because these two rooms were shown to be across the hall from each other when, in fact, they were down the hall.
St. Maarten is amazing and beautiful. The people are amazing, the water is clear, and the drinks are cold!!!! I cannot wait to return!
The Teardrop Memorial is located here which is a very nice photo opportunity.
