We stayed in Houston for a few days (Springhill Suites – Hobby airport). Had a rental car and returned it the night before the cruise. We used the Carnival transfer shuttle to get to the cruise port in Galveston – about an hour ride not bad.

Embarkation was an hour wait. Not sure what the delay was but once we were on board everything was great. We had a balcony room – normally we get an inside cabin but Carnival called a few days prior and offered a balcony upgrade for $260 – so we took it. Probably wouldn’t do it again – we’re not big balcony people – rather be around the ship. The balcony isn’t that big or roomy.

Food – just amazing choices for lunch. Guys burgers, Tacos/burritos, Italian, BBQ (Sea days only) and the buffet to boot. We sat at the late dining (8:15 pm) – never had a bad meal. Eric our waiter was the best. I am blessed with a meat & potatoes taste palette so most things taste pretty good to me. I feel sorry for the foodies that go on board and expect 5 star dining – amateurs! The Sushi place was a great place to eat late night – there is a small upcharge but well worth it. Bar service was fine never really waited long to get a drink.

Nice cabin location - just a few doors down from the elevator. The room size is adequate with a couch. Lots of space for clothes. Bring a power strip - not enough outlets. Balcony was small and tight.
