We chose this cruise for our first-time cruise experience because it was short and because we thought it would be interesting to make two stops in Canada. The ship was well-maintained and the staff keeping our room clean was excellent. They came to our room two times each day, giving us fresh towels and a bed turn-down with chocolates. The restaurant staff was also excellent - very attentive and friendly. They had many wait staff at breakfast and dinner so that it was easy to get whatever you needed. We thought the food was quite good.

For me, the entertainment was really terrible. We went to one evening activity but it wasn't really funny or well-done. We sat in on the tail-end of a comedy show but the comedian was making fun of Italians, of which he was one, and like the other activity, I didn't find this funny.

As for the shore excursions, we selected two through Princess. In fairness, the excursions had to be switched because our stops were reversed due to weather conditions which required that the staff had some last-minute rearranging to do. However, the staff handled our Halifax excursion so poorly, so incompetently. They had us waiting in a room for disembarkation directions but no one was there for us. Instead they had a staff training going on in the room as if we weren't there. No staff seemed to know where we should be or helped us to find out. After about 20 minutes of this, we followed some other people who got up. We eventually found someone who told us we would be missing half our tour and the remaining part of the tour would be leaving in 1 1/2 hours rather than the current time. We were told there would be some financial adjustment. We were not given any options. We were told we would be taken to Peggy's Cove,a one hour drive there, one hour stay, and then one hour to drive back. There would be no opportunity to explore Halifax. There was no real financial adjustment, rather we were charged the new tour price which was slightly less than our original tour price. The whole thing was handled very chaotically and with no apologies.

The cabin was basically fine. However, the bathroom had a strong smell that never went away, kind of like the NYC subways in the summer.
